Let There Be (Damn Good) Rock
Bands that changed my life part 1 (in no particular order): AC/DC. I'm not an AC/DC-head and this album probably wouldn't be near the top of my Desert Island discs, but it had an absolutely monstrous effect on me regardless. I would come home from primary school and spend hours in our playroom that had a quarter-size pool table and a record-player. I also had older siblings, so at age 10, instead of being exposed to Donna Summer, ELO, the Village People (although I was exposed to them too), I was trying to perfect my corner shots and doubles at pool while getting a massive dose of the sibling’s tunes, stuff like AC/DC, The Police, Floyd, The Boomtown Rats. Man, am I grateful for that. Thanks, siblings!
AC/DC is stomping music, and this album made me realise that there was a lot, lot more to life than Abba. When I heard it first, it opened the gates of a vast world for me, one that I still love: basic, good old-fashioned, ass-kicking rock n roll.
Outstanding songs: Overdose, Let There Be Rock, Whole Lotta Rosie
